ALEX SOLIS WINS UK TITLE IN SPECTACULAR FASHION

Dec 31, 2020

Newcomer Alex Solis (@alexmdc) stormed into the UK Championships determined to secure victory.  During his post tournament interview he said “Having missed out last year due to my workload, I took one look at the trophy and decided this is my year!

Kicking off with a Head-2-Head against vetran Tom Blackford (@tomblackfordart) in Round 1 Alex delivered an quirky interpretation of tough opening headline: Matthew McConaughey calls out cancel culture as he doubles down on ‘illiberal left’ criticism … Winning the judges vote and progressing into Round 2 he faced off against newcomer ROO (@roo_art) and headline: New app gives you legal protection when you send nudes … Almost suffering disqualification for ‘spartan use of colour’ he strolled into the Quarter-finals and locked horns with 2019 Quarter-Finalist and self-styled king of narrative Kid Crayon (@kidcrayon1) and battled with headline: Tyson Fury accuses Anthony Joshua of ‘s***ting himself’ after Kubrat Pulev win … Getting through a huge amount of work in just 60 minutes Alex took the win in a close fought battle setting up a titanic Semi-Final clash with 2019 Runner-Up Uncle Ewan (@ewanagain) with headline brief: Demand for doomsday bunkers surges due to Trump loss and Covid pandemic.  In Alex’s favorite piece of this year’s tournament (a visceral depiction of a doomsday bunker flanked by Donald Trump and the Coronavirus) he scored the highest marks ever awarded by our judging panel nudging him into the final by just one point.

Underdog ROOTS (@roots_0121) awaited in what promised to be a nail biting final with headline: Fish and chip shop creates ‘world’s largest’ pig in a blanket measuring two feet … Backed by her highly engaged social following, fiercely determined ROOTS came out fighting with an amusing depiction of a giant record winning pig in a sleeping bag.  Alex fought back with a comedy depiction of a giant earthquake inducing pig breaking wind! With smart use of perspective and introducing multiple narratives he ultimately secured a well deserved win 44 Vs 40 and took the UK title.

Alex Solis currently resides in Wisconsin where he works full time on his own brand Oddworx. When he’s not working on art, he spends most of his time with his family.
